Limestone Rocks in Billy’s Bay

Limestone Rocks in Billy’s Bay, Treasure Beach, Jamaica.
On about two-thirds of the island of Jamaica, including Treasure Beach, White Limestone rocks and cliffs are prevalent. These rocks form the typical karst plateau landscape of the island and also host the bauxite deposits. The White Limestone consists of pure carbonates (limestones and dolostones) and overlies the rocks of the Yellow Limestone Group.
Treasure Beach is considered Jamaica’s “desert coast” as it receives the lowest levels of rainfall on the island and the vegetation is markedly different here than elsewhere on Jamaica.
Constant exposure to erosion by the ocean results in interesting and beautiful rocks formations on the beaches.
