Diego Martin is one of the gentlest of the Northern Range valleys and it proved to be one of the most productive and most populous. When the early Spaniard explorer, Don Diego Martín, after whom the valley is named, discovered and gave his name to the river flowing through one of the valleys of the north-west peninsula he could not have known that valley was going to be home to so many settlers.
It consists of a cluster of communities including Congo Village, Diamond Vale, Green Hill, Patna Village, Petit Valley, Blue Range, La Puerta Avenue, Four Roads, Rich Plain, River Estate, Blue Basin, Water Wheel, West Moorings, Bagatelle and Sierra Leone.
