The Audrey Jeffers Highway, also called the Mucurapo Foreshore Freeway is a coastal highway constructed in 1980’s. Costing approximately $20M TT per mile, this high-priced infrastructure project, was built in a coastal swamp and was justified protection measure to prevent coastal erosion.
It is named in honor of Audrey Jeffers, a social worker and Trinidad and Tobago’s first female Member of Parliament.
